Photographic Journal: China’s First Emperor’s Terracotta Warriors

While in San Francisco, California recently, I had the good fortune to see some of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shihuang’s (259-210 BCE) original Terracotta Warriors. They are on display at the Asian Art Museum through May 27, 2013.

  1. Xi An left a truly indelible impression on me. I loved how you captured the individual expressions and poses and outfits. Thank you so much for the pics. How wonderful that you can see these in SF!

  2. What a wonderful privilege indeed! Xian has always been a place I had wanted to visit just to see the Terracota Warriors. Have you watched the 1989 movie Terracota Warrior starring Gong Li and Zhang Yimou? I loved it and it sparked my interest to see this magnificent sight for myself. Thank you so much for this beautiful collection here. It must have been something to see them! Happy First day of Spring! Sharon

    1. Thank you, Sharon! It was indeed a privilege to see these Terracotta Warriors, especially since I don’t foresee myself being able to travel to China anytime soon! Each one of the warriors had his own distinct personality. They had quite a presence; enough to make me spend two entire hours in their exhibit. I have not seen the movie you mentioned, but I shall look for it now. It sounds interesting. Happy First Day of Spring to you as well!
